Help! I am putting my suspension back together after control arm bushing replacement. Now the shock gets loaded when I jack up the car without spacers- the upper bushing get totally squashed - yet there is still 1/4" or so of space between upper a-arm and body. When I turn the left wheel all the way to the right, the tire hits the spring seat. I put in new shocks, but they are the same length as the old ones.
I have already put my engine back in. There are two things that may be important. There is a small possibilty I lost track left/right of the upper control arms (the car has been apart for 2 months). As they are installed now, the forward part of the arm has a bigger bend then the rear part. Also, while jacking up just the upper arm (with spring installed) to put in spacers so I could put the swivel member back in, something slipped and the arm smacked back down onto the body - certainly the distance before impact was less than half an inch. Please somebody tell me what the heck is going on! I have only put the DS together, so far.
