Here we are once again... 1992 900S Convertible (2.1L N/A) overheated the other night on the way to work... engine temp started heading up to the redline (been running great for awhile - around half in the hot Florida sun). Pulled into the closest safe parking lot just as it got into red. Shut off car and started overheating with coolant coming out of expansion tank (yellow cap). Was able to later start car, but making a loud rattling/clanking noise near the firewall/top of engine. Also noticing alot of grey, metallic dust in engine compartment, on heater hoses, alt, a/c compressor, etc. Is this the water pump failing and breaking down??? Could it affect timing chain? Warp Head??? Still runs and is drivable....Also had problems starting since this happened, with battery (charging) indicator remaining on for a while after starting engine.
Please... What needs to be done?? How expensive??? Ready to get rid of "my baby" and don't want to drop too much more money into her... 135,000 miles, ran great prior to this, body clean, tons of new parts, including top...Does this have any value?? What's a fair asking price, as is, and repaired?? Thanks for your help....
