You came here for opinions. Here's mine!
Any Saab is better than any SuV. Especially if you can afford a Saab new!
Definitely snow tires.
The Saab will be built better and have a better defroster. Utes go over anything by sheer mass. If you're looking for heavy snowstorm use, avoid a Saab with lower ground clearance like the hyper-turbos. I also believe in narrower snow tires. Sure, Gislaved makes 220-series snow tires, but they are too wide unless you stil want sports-car cornering on your snow tires.
Four snows. Two are insufficient.
Then there was the time I was riding in my friend's '86 turbo with Hakkas, the light turned green, the Saab bit in and the GMC just squirmed. Weight balance. (Not to mention less weight means decreased stopping distances squared.)
More usable room (esp. the 9-5 wagon), a safer chassis, more comfortable interior, I already mentioned the defroster, looks good, comes with a clutch... What else?
Right, better fuel mileage and way lower emissions.
