The difference between 2 & 4 snows can be profound. I did some testing on a snow packed parking lot one winter. The test was to turn the steering wheel a constant amount and drive the car in a circle, maybe 30 foot radius. Then holding steering wheel constant, gradually increase speed.
- With 4 all season tires, at the speed where traction was insufficient, the car simply scribed a larger circle. Control was good.
- With snows on the front (Blizzak) and all seasons on the back, when traction was lost, the back end skittered out while the front end hung on, meaning the car did donuts. Would have been real scarey on a road with traffic.
- With 4 Blizzaks, car handled just as with 4 all seasons, except the limits were higher.
Don't mix diff tires on the same vehicle. It's bad news.
