I have been plagued by this problem... Every single head unit out there is designed for 16 year olds it seems. If you want to invest in a incredible sounding system (they are expensive) Nakamichi is the way to go. The look of the head units is simple and understated, no bouncing graphics, no bright purple lights... Looks great in my 9000. They are expensive, but worth every penny.
