Keep in mind that the items you mentioned are maintenance items that do where out in time. Those repairs would run approx. $500 or so and you would have piece of mind that they are new. Finding a mechanic could prove to be more difficult. Brakes and rotors are an easy DIY.. and the CV's should be a great way to introduce a reluctant but willing Saab-to-be mechanic.

Working on VW's are far more difficult than working on c900's. I owned a '72 bus....everytime I started it I would tune the carbs... a very manual vehicle.

So.. with 145k this car has lots of life left. My guess it that if you can negotiate some repairs.. it would be a good deal in the high 4k's.
