... after reading all the tranny\differential posts here.

Original problem: the casing around the inner driver was loose and dry inside. Crusty tripod bearing, too. Got some from a junk yard along with some beauty tripods. From what I've read, IF I use the same bearing seats along with the same shims on the same side; everything should be peachy. Right?

The scary part being: a whole bunch of sludge came out the tranny when I drained it. Also a considerable lump of ferrous shards at the tip of the drain plug. I may pull the diff. cover to change the gasket, but *[see no evil]* it isn't that necessary.

Other projects you may hear about in the next week: Water leak in cabin, 3 point seat belt conversion, Driver's seat rebuild, Dash replacement, Brake overhaul, Shock bushings, Body work, Missing tailpipe, Repainted hubcaps, Chrome lock-strips and all around fluid flushes. Then a quick 1500 mi. back to Canada to enjoy the nice weather.
If you don't hear from me in 7 days it's probably too late.

Anybody know where to get a quality oilspray and thick undercoating somewhere between Miami and the snow-belt?
