All C900 pressure plates have a design feature so that you can manually depress the springs. Looking at it from the front are three cut-outs. At each of those cut-outs is a leverage point where if you wedge a medium sized crow bar against it and press toward the engine, one third of the springs will compress. It's obviously a 3 part process - depress springs, insert spacer, rotate pressure plate, depress that section of springs and on to the final third.
