vapor lock unlikely with modern fuel pump fuel injection pressures. As long as you're running ok when you hit the gas, almost imposs to be vapor lock.
There have been cases of loss of fuel pressure when cornering or at low fuel tank levels but the main fp normally is enough.
I'd say go with cleaning the throttle body and the AIC valve/motor, also check the idle switch operation/continuity at idle. Most likely you'll have to replace the AIC because IMHO if they're that dirty something else is going on or the aic motor commutator is scored/burnt.
MAKE SURE the idle switch is closed at idle on the throttle body...if it isn't, like some PO has adjusted the idle with the butterfly stop screw (a serious no-no with closed loop injection), the idle switch may not close at idle and the system won't adjust the idle with the aic.
I've had two volvos with bosch aic motors, one over 140K and the other over 270K miles, and one saab with 270K miles. The saab had to have the aic replaced. When I disassembled the saab motor/valve on the way to cleaning it up the valve was ok/moved freely...the commutator was burnt.
