That is the style of rear caliper I am talking about. The piston is threaded on its ID. It must be SCREWED out like most rear calipers with emergency brakes incorporated in the caliper proper. Yes, I have done this on an '89 with the rear parking brake. It sounds like the rust in the adjuster assembly (the screw part is in the caliper and the nut part is in the piston) has caused your problem. (this can be alleviated by flushing the brake fluid regularly...) I would concentrate on getting the rust out of the piston and threaded portion. I do not know exactly how it works, but feel that it must have a split nut with a spring clamping the other half of the split onto this screw. which keeps it from backing down the screw. Are the seals on the levers for the brake cables seeping or are they dry?
