As much as a high-pressure spray is appealing, avoid it. I have seen cases where the high pressure spray has gotten into electronics boxes and permanently damaged some pretty expensive stuff. Doesn't happen all the time, and is more common with the more electronics-laden newer cars, but if it happens to you, it'll be a sad day.
My recommendation is to use a putty knife to scrape off the big stuff. Ugly and hard work, yes. Then there are some spray-on degreasers. Let them work, and then use water to clean off. Not under pressure, but let it wash over stuff, starting at the top. Again, more elbow grease required.
