Gas Smell in Trunk and Passenger Area

I think I have read about this before. I have a distinct gas smell that is in the trunk and passenger area. Is worse after sitting for a few days. This is in my 1992 turbo convertible. Where should I start looking? I think I recall hearing mention of the fuel pump area on the gas tank. There are no fuel leaks from waht I can see. What else could it be. I like the smell, but my wife has a problem with it.
