If you would to do it again I suggest that you get a 1/4" flex driver and a T25 1/4" socket.
Remove the speaker grill, remove the two screws holding the plastic air duct. Move the air duct away/down and tie it down with a string around the shifter.
Remove the cardboard sound insulation and remove the 4 screws for heater valve from under using the flexdriver and T25 socket.
Wiggle, pull and turn the heater valve and remove it through the speaker hole
That's the way most Saab mechanics do it.
You don't need to remove the knee bolster or any radio or center console.
