After I retired my previous 900, I considered buying a new car. Instead I bought my current car ('85 900T) for less than what I would have shelled out in the first 2 months of owning a new car, with another 58 months of payments left. My new car is in great shape, and has given excellent service for two years with NO MONTHLY PAYMENTS!
When I think of the money I save every month I have no qualms about spending a little extra here and there on preventive maintenance. My plan is to keep this car on the road as long as I can. I bet I could rebuild every part of the car, as needed, and still be money ahead.
