70K on a C900 sounds good. But a bit more info, please. Who is selling the car, owner or dealer? How many owners has the car had and do you know anything about how the car has been cared for. The primary thing to check when buying a C900 is how has the car been maintained. There is plenty of info on Saabnet on what to look for when buying a Saab, but if you have access to the car's maintenance history, you'll be able to make a much more informed purchase. Click the link below for more info.
That being said, the turbo models are not that much more problematic than the normally aspriated 900s. The turbos before 1988 were not liquid cooled. Therefore, allowing the engine to idle 20-30 seconds before shut down was critical in the longevity of the turbo. Other things to check are if the owner used synthetic oil, which also greatly improves the life of the turbo and engine.
I bought an 86 900 Turbo with 185,000 miles on it. I sold it a couple of months ago with just over 351,000 miles, still running strong. I was the third owner. The car had Mobil 1 synthetic in the crankcase from day one. The car is still on the original turbo. Bottom line...take care of a Saab and it will run forever.
