Ok ..So iI went to replace my pump oring, as there was a puddle of gas on the top of the pump. First thing, one of the right angle check valves on top of the pump breaks off, leaving the straight portion with the orings in the pump still. Next tragedy, I attemt to pull off the electrical connector and one of the entire pins pulls out of the plastic receptacle. There is eveidence of overheating & melting (probably from old fuel pump that was replaced.
I finally got the collar loose, and attempt to pull out the pump.
IT SEEMS THERE ARE LINES ATTACHED (in a tee, inside the tank)It also seems that there is a line inside the tank, and I'm afraid of what the next step is.
I certainly don't want to replace those damn fittings, or break anything else in the process. I allready must make a trip to the junkyard for the top of the fuel pump with the electrical connector (the inside didn't look any better, and one place I am especially paranoid about sparks & overheating is inside the gas tank)
IS there actually a line attached inside the tank?
Should I just yank this pump out now?
Is there a preferred line or fitting to disconnect? (they all look brittle)
I just want to get this running without the gas smell without digging myself further in a hole
