What you actually do when adjusting that cold pressure is to fool the car that the "choke" is on for more and longer time.
Cold start and all the emissions that the car send out the first minutes is a big beef between car manufacturers and the emission regulations. So what they do is to set everything as lean as possible can to make the car pass certification tests so that the car can even be imported to the US.
When the warmup regulator slowly gets older and worn it works its way up to more and more lean cold start conditions. What happens when I adjust the pressure down is that I restore it back to factory specs (and a little bit more).
Saying that I lower the pressure for better cold start is in itself a little bit misleading because I actually raise the pressure on the fuel injector side, but that is a story in itself how the CIS system is working.
The air aux valve is a big piece that should not be forgotten with idle and cold start problems.
Make sure that when removing the upper hose of cold air aux valve that you can see the disc inside being at a position so that an opening through the valve is seen.
It will never be fully open but it should be at least 10-15% open.
When the engine is warm it should be closed.
No, you should not jumper the wires when harness is disconnected from warm up regulator, that will blow the fuse.
The same power is supplied to air aux valve so if you bypass fuel pump relay you will heat up and close the air aux valve. That's why I also disconnect the air aux valve when doing the adjustment and testing.
