Weird APC question.

Okay, the previous owner of my 85 SPG had taken the APC solenoid and all it's associated wiring (just cut the wires to the solenoid back a few feet) out of the car.
Until now, I'd been settling for an MBC, but the realization that running out of water for my H20 injection can be deadly to my engine, makes me want the protection of the APC again. So, I think I've located the yellow/white striped wire that is the power for the APC solenoid. With a voltmeter connected to this wire, and to ground, I get 12 volts with the ignition on (only with APC fuse #10 in, which tells me that this is indeed APC wiring). Also, with the voltmeter still connected I see a slight change in voltage (+/- 2 volts) when tapping on the knock sensor, which sounds right because tapping on the sensor with the solenoid properly hooked up is supposed to make it chatter for a second. This all sounds logical, right?
So, as far as I can tell from the wiring diagram, the ground to the solenoid is a simple constant ground, probably at the front grounding point on the chassis (where the PO has also severed a few connections). Is this correct?
Okay, sorry for the long post, but I'd like to get this figured out so I can run more than 6 psi without fearing engine damage! Thanks in advance.
