The NTC blue-tip coolant temperature sensor, or "CTS," (for the LH computer, not the fans), located in the cylinder head between intake runners 2&3, should read:
320 ohms at 176°F (80°C) to 180 ohms at 212°F (100°C).
That info is from the SAABnet 900 FAQ's LH-Jetronic injection page.
So, it sounds like your coolant sensor might be a little "off," giving too high a resistance for any given temperature.
However, have you cleaned your throttle body and AIC (Automatic Idle Control) valve? Might want to do that and make sure throttle position switch is OK before laying out cash for a CTS.
