I avoid "quickie" oil change places like the plague!

Vanessa,
I swore off taking ANY family car (much less our beloved SAABs) to places like Wal-Mart Tire & Lube (oops, might get flamed for that) and other quickie oil change shops after we got back my 1984 900S with DENTS in the oil filter. Yeah, that clinched it for me.
What's more, the place had a "checklist" of items they supposedly inspect while the car is in for the oil change. One of them is the air filter, and if you have or ever had on 8-valve, you know it's at least a 10-minute affair to check the air filter. There was no way the "tech" had changed our oil AND inspected this air filter in the amount of time our car was in the shop. But they checked it off on the list anyhow!
Sorry for the rant. Like Russell said, the weather CAN'T be that bad! If so, you can wait a bit--I doubt a couple hundred more miles on that oil & filter will seriously harm your engine. That's my 2 cents...
