Any of you all here have decent bass in their 900 convertible? I've installed a pretty nice Sony deck, and replaced all the factory speakers with good aftermarket Kenwood ones. I chose those because they have rubber surrounds & alumnium cones...good to minimize sun damage & dry rot. they sounded pretty balanced in the store's display panel. In the car though, the bottom end is a little dissapointing.

Part of the reason I guess is because with the top down, there really isn't a way for the bass to propagate. The other problem seems to be a lack of enough enclosure behind the speakers. The setup sound very clean and clear, with plenty of highs. I need something though to pick up that <100Hz area of the sound spectrum.

In all the old American cars I've owned, the task was easy, just put a big home-stereo woofer under the rear package shelf behind the rear window. It would use the entire trunk area as an enclosure and make incredible bass. In my van, I just have a dual 8 inch cabinet sitting underneath the rearmost seat. Neither of these options would work in the covertable though. There is not really any passage from the trunk area to the passenger area, so even putting a sub cabinet back there wouldn't really do anything but rattle the license plate, and take up valuable cargo area. Putting a cabinet inside the interior may work OK, but the only cabinet I see that wouldn't cause size problems is maybe a 6 or 8 inch Bazooka tube.

What have you all used to bring up the bottom end a little? I'm not looking to turn the car into a ghetto blaster, but just looking for good, balanced sound.
