It is not 'all tubes running parallel', that is just the basic layout. see the link. It is the physics of 2 phase condensation that you can use the extra volume on the input, but need less volume as it condenses for the same thermal transfer. Basically, as we went to R134, more research/development was done on condensers (hadn't needed to do anything for 40 years or so 'cause what we had worked). With R134, we needed to drop a few more degrees across the condenser to keep high side pressures down a bit to keep the systems from overheating. If you check around, the compressors are all the same across R12 and R134 cars that had both, ditto the evaporators, it is just the condensers that had to be changed to 'work with' the new refrigerant. The physics is there and it is not just marketing hype. With the system in the C900 running R134, you need to have a bit more delta T across the condenser to put the system parameters where they need to be for efficient operation. With this change, it'll cool you in Houston. I sell nothing, just pass info.
