Quick ? about my tranny swap...

Ok, got the engine out of my donor parts car, '87 900T, for my baby, the '86 900T (howling pinion). The engine/tranny is of course, filthy, and I mean filthy, really bad. I cleaned up what I could, but I'm in my garage and I can't take a power hose to it there. Since I dropped the tranny out of the engine, I figured I could just clean that up well.
The engine is toast, which I figured out when I saw it from the PO that had used a ton of the red silicon to seal the valve cover. Of course when I dropped the tranny I could see a huge piece of the red silicon strip sticking out of the oil tube. A big no no. That's why the car ran like on 3 cylinder with a ton of black smoke.
Anyway, getting to my question, the tranny looks sealed up well except of course at the top where the slave cylinder would sit. So can I just cover that part up and take the tranny to the street and blast away with a power washer. I really want it cleaned up well since I might be doing this again in the future when this '87 tranny goes south.
Thanks all, and for anyone that hasn't done an engine pull. The ONLY difficult part that I have found is getting that damn shifter linkage pin out. For this parts car I ended up using a sawzall through the rubber piece, but for my real car I will not be able to be so brutal. So if you are doing an engine pull, do this first and everything else will a snap.
Any and all advice welcome. Thanks,
Wes L.
