My '94 classic 900 convertible has always been my dream car. Soon after I bought it, I had overheating problems. While it was in a very reputable shop here in Los Angeles, the torque converter broke. The mechanic gave me a break on fixing that too. The whole bill for the head gasket, various seals and filters plus torque converter was about 3,000 bucks. I complained that the car vibrated and shook when it hadn't before I took it in. My complaint was dismissed as an exhaust leak. This mechanic has never treated me like a dumb girl, and somehow I think this would've happened if I was a man or a woman because he didn't personally do the work. In fact, it leaked badly and had to be redone 3 times. I am still living with the really bad vibration. Also, the driveshaft wore out because when they redid it those three times, they apparently didn't pack it with enough grease. I had that fixed and the mechanic I am going too now says that the torque converter was installed "unbalanced". I am sick about having to live with this vibration. I am upgrading alot of things on my car and I still will have this horrible vibration and the feeling that I can't do anything about it. I am angry and feel like crying about it sometimes because the guy who's shop I took it to originally must have known there was a vibration. I mean, he IS considered the Saab guru and all. I never thought he would let anything but excellence leave his shop. I guess it's difficult to take responsibility for shoddy work done by employees and trainees. Not my problem! Well, it shouldn't have been. How much should fixing this problem cost? Someday, I might consider paying for all of it again.
