All I can say is that your description is so confusing that it is of almost no value. Why didn't you take it back to the original mechanic and have him fix the problem if he is a reputable mechanic and is at fault? Forget about who actually did the job- the owner of the shop is responsible, especially if they caused damage.
Torque converters don't "break while in the shop." That makes zero sense. The transmission isn't touched during head gasket replacement. Ditto for the multiple transmission leaks- it just doesn't make sense.
There are other possible causes for the vibration you are experiencing. You say the drive shaft was replaced because of wear. Often the inner driver is also damaged when there is abnormal wear to the drive shaft. Also there is an intermediate driveshaft bearing that can go bad. These possibilities make more sense than an improperly installed torque converter. Go somewhere and get an expert opinion on the cause of the vibration from someone who knows Saabs. This will require a road test, which you should be present for. At this point you need to move forward instead of trying to figure out what went wrong.
