Something funny is going on with my reverse light for my '92 900s automatic. I've taken appart the neutral safety switch next to the shifter that switches the single white power wire to the double white pair of wires that go to the rear and front reverse lights. Here's the crazy thing: with a volt meter, the voltage between the power wire and the wires to the light with the car turned on is 12-14 volts(which is what it should be), however when I connect the two sets of wires together directly, none of the lights turn on. Second intersting thing: if I take a wire from the positive terminal of the cigarette lighter (since both the reverse light and the cigarette lighter are on the same fuse), and I connect it to the double wires going to the rear lights, the lights all come on? go figure? somehow the 12v. positive from the cigarette lighter turns on the light, but the 12v. positive from the wire orginally going to the neutral switch does not, even though they both show 12 volt potential(and supposedly comming from the same connector at the fuse box?)
Any thoughts or insights on this is greatly appretiated.
