Hey guys, I've been battling with base boost ever since we replaced my transmission last month. (my 87 convertible) I really didn't want to post, but I am seriously at a loss. Here's the story:
Before the trans operation, I had really high boost. I thought I was just lucky, but really my APC system wasn't functioning. We found a hole in the W hose when we had the engine out.
So now, the car is at base boost. Here's the history of our diagnosis:
-Had hoses to solenoid backwards, didn't change anything
-had wrong electrical connector to solenoid, no change.
-Black wire connected on transducer, (was unplugged?) no change.
-Checked pedal switches for continuity, good.
-Brake light working
-Checked pins on APC (townsend imports diag.)
-Speed relay unplugged, fixed, no change.
-Checked transducer (jump terminals, measure resistance) good.
-Checked knock sensor (pulled and measured, good)
-replaced APC box today, no change.
What else are we missing? Occasionally, the solenoid will click like crazy when brake is off. But it's a new unit, and it tested fine! Also, right before trans died, my cruise control stopped working. But it's working now... no change!
Base boost is roughly 5.5 psi, car has SPG apc box, 3.0 bar fpr, k&n, diy timing mod, boost cutout bypassed. Could the boost cutout bypass be the problem? Anybody have suggestions?
Thanks in advance, oh great wizards of the turbo!
