I repaired mine a month after I purchased my 86T, which was around the fall of 2001 and 30k miles ago> and I drive over pot-hole infested roads every day. Not once have I felt that the car was un-safe > and the tires wear normal > and it tracks straighter than any other 900 I've owned.
Mine also wasn't as rusted as the one I'm currently repairing, but I fail to understand why it would be unsafe if repaired correctly. I mean > I used the same thickness gauge metal as original(or close to original), welded to good solid metal, and tied all the new metal together with welds, forming the same boxed structure as close to original as possible.
