That's no doubt a voice of experience ! next time i tear an engine down i will check clearances on the old bearings - should be interesting....
That's my other concern - piston to wall clearance... machinist advised me of 4 thou clearance with these pistons on the 83 900T block and he felt that was rather loose. I'm using an SPG block tho, with less miles so maybe i'll be ok there. other thing is these pistons expand somewhat after warming up so maybe just take it easy til engine is warm...
I will carefully check end gaps on the rings, as well as side gap.
