But personal feelings aside - what I should have written was that it's a gamble. The hardest part is getting it in. If you can do that then it will probably be fine for a while. That being said, there are people who have had the same problem as Chip where it will have an unexpected type of failure like overcharging. However, the reports of that are few and far between. Then again, even OEM parts can be defective...

So Lisa, if you're willing to bet with the odds, leave it in there and just make sure you carry your spare with you along with your basic hand tools. If it were me - I'd probably change it just for peace of mind, but not because I felt like I had to. Or at least solder the replacement brushes into the old VR body.
