Clutch bleeding problem: no resistance in clutch pedal

Hi SAABnetters:
I am having problems bleeding my clutch. My SAAB is a 1986 900 8 valve.
I am using a nice Mityvac to do the job. Here is what I am doing:
1. The master clutch master cylinder fluid reservoir cap is off and the reservoir is full of Valvoline synthetic brake fluid ("Synpower," exceeds DOT 3 and DOT 4).
2. The clutch bleeder nipple is connected to a clear plastic tube that leads to a capped plastic "waste" jar, and the Mityvac vacuum is connected to the other side of the "waste" jar.
3. According to Bentley, I have opened the bleeder nipple 1/2 turn, and pumped the Mityvac to create suction from the reservoir, thru the system, and out of the nipple.
4. I have gone thru 1/2 pint of brake fluid, and the fluid in the "waste" jar is nice and clean. I can still see bubbles coming out of the bleeder nipple thru the clear plastic tube that leads into the "waste" jar.
After going thru 1/2 pint of brake fluid, there is still no resistance in my clutch. I have checked: the fluid supply hose from the reservoir is connected. The other hoses are connected, also.
What am I doing wrong?
Thanks!
Phil Smith
