What you can do on the C900 is to move the probe for antifreeze switch to a warmer area (up or down) in the evaporator.

Saab had a service bulletin out many years ago about that.

I can't recall from the top of my head which way the probe should be moved to lower the temp out of the vents.

You also need to be careful when pulling it out and inserting it again into the evaporator so you don't break the capillary tube.

48° though is still really good at 90° outdoor temps on these older cars.

Are you sure it is actually the antifreeze switch that cycles the A/C clutch on and off at 48°?

Keep the car stationary with the REC door closed and the fan at first or second speed and just let the car sit idling until you see the A/C clutch disengage and engage again several times and then read the temp from the center vent.
