A "very" pressurized expansion tank... ... will still be pressurized after sitting overnight! Also, it may leak coolant out the coolant reservoir cap, and leave a chalky white residue on the expansion tank, or even dripping down the inside of the wheel well. That's what mine did!
A proper fill/bleed:
1) From cold, turn cabin heater to "hot"; under hood, open bleeder valve (2 11mm or 7/16" wrenches, hold the bottom still, loosen the top one until it's fairly loose)
2) Slowly fill the expansion tank until coolant flows from the bleeder valve.
3) Using two wrenches, close the bleeder.
4) Fill coolant to "Max" line
5) Run car for a while, until hot (T-stat opens)
6) Allow car to cool.
7) Check coolant level.
8) Repeat as necessary.
Good luck, and let us know how it goes!
Jonathan
(A headgasket, while seemingly to be a big deal, actually isn't! Just time, and money. Much less money if you can DIY)
