The mityvac is good for brake bleeding, sucking up liquids and testing vac operated switches. It is not for AC work. The harbor freight device is venturi operated. Meaning that you flow a lot of air past a cone and it causes a vacuum. Basically you would need a really big shop compressor and the desire to listen to it run constantly for at least 30 minutes. I did my AC last year using a friend's humidifyer compressor conversion. I just pulled a compressor off an old freezer and I went to Napa for the right fitting that goes into the R134 gauges, a little solder and a 120v electric plug is all I have left to do to get it up and running.
