Update on 90 SPG - Still failing CA Smog Posted by Randy Thatcher [Email] (#22) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Randy Thatcher) on Fri, 22 Jul 2005 15:47:08 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
1990 SPG, 151k, fresh Castrol 10W30 and SAAB filter, plugs/cap/rotor/wires within 10k, original cat, engine warmed up.
Last night I put in a fresh Bosch o2 Sensor. I swapped the AMM from my 94 C900TC CE vert (same 013 AMM). Man, the AMM with 80k on it was WAY cleaner than the one with 151k.
The dude the retest for free, what a cool guy! He found the timing was at 23 degrees. Should be at 16 (or 14 for the test?).
o2 sensor got my HC numbers WAY down. I guess that's what I'll do on my borderline HC vert... I have 2 years to do it. Maybe it will get the gas milage up, too.
Anyway, I think I'm gonna have to buy a cat and get the timing adjusted. $350 or so at my local indie. I can't DIY as I live in a condo (air tools and grinders will get me busted breaking the don't work on cars rule) and I'm flying to Japan on Monday for 2 weeks. Gotta suck it up.
