You can't really tell from the VINs w/o going to SAAB corporate. Check the part number on the '90 APC controller - if it ends in 127, it was probabaly an official SPG. The APC controller for the '86 is the same for SPG and 900T - the part number probably ends in 599.
Sure, grab the cladding. You'll need to take the front and rear bumpers off the '86 to get everything. Get all of the bits, including the aluminum rails, the plastic backers behind the rails, the gussetts, the small stamped steel pieces that hold the rear of the '86 rear bumper extensions to the rear bumper mount bolts. Get the air dam from the '86, too.
Not having a good cordless drill, I use a wood chisel to knock the heads off the door rivets.
