1. emergency brake off and inspect that the ebrake lever on the brake housing to make sure is not stuck and has released...
2. Wheel is off, remove circlip from U-pin making sure to grab the braking pad tensioning pad which has the spring clips which go under the u-pin. The u-pin can be with drawn out fairly easily by using the claw of a hammer between the u-pin and outer pad bracket. Work out the u-pin slowly.
3. Knock off as much rust which may have accumulated around the pads. Tap the inside fender end of the sliding outer pad yoke to make sure that all play has been eliminated between the yoke and inside brake caliper. This will tend to move the yoke (with its attached outer brake pad) outwards.. further away from the brake disk to give you room to remove the outer pad first.
4. Take a standard #2 phillips head screw driver and pry the outer pad out forward toward the front of the car by using the edge of the outer yoke as the screw driver fulcrum point and the tip of the screw driver into one of the holes of the pad from which the u-pin was removed. Alternate prying between the top and bottom holes of the pad since the pad will bind a bit as it cocks slightly from side to side as you work it out.
5. Once the outer pad is out you can tap or slide the yoke back into the direction of the car about 1/4 inch. That creates a slight gap between end of the inner caliper and the yoke which allows you to now press the inner pad towards the car moving the inner pad away from the inside surface of the brake disk. At this point you should be able to slide the inner pad easily out by hand but you can use the screw driver again should it bind.
6. To get the new pads in you must collapse the inner and outer calipers back together by rotating the outer caliper face clockwise about 14 one-quarter turns. I say quarter turns because that is all the rotation space you will have in one motion. Then press the outer caliper into the housing toward the car and put in the inner pad. Pull on the yoke to slide it out making room for the outer pad. Slide in the outer pad. Holding the spring tensioning pad in place, reinstall the u-pin and circlip. Pump the brakes a couple of times to readjust the calipers out to their normal brake positions and you are ready to go....
