Have fuel pressure to 60psi..no drop with problem. Idles at 20psi, pull the vacuum and it goes to about 35psi.
Boosts to almost full red but exhaust note is putrid...not shooting ducks but not a roar either. Hooter valve is ok (put in a new one anyway), removed and checked all intake hoses/tubing, etc. New iridium NGK plugs, newish cap and rotor, new plug wires, exchanged amm with known good one, 02 sensor is out of circuit at full throttle, new cat/3" SS exhaust.
Plugs look clean, not white, not running hot/detonating.
Running 16 BTDC, AID advance/pressure retard. Vacuum retard works.
None of the above helped.
Runs reasonably well in first and second gears but third (Auto trans) under boost it just seems to have no power...This car used to go to 120 with no problem.
Shop ran compression test, 150-155 in three cylinders, 125 in one. Shop didn't think this should cause the problem.
I think I may have to do a compression test myself to confirm it and/or a leakdown test to see if a valve has gone off. Car has 275K on it with engine rebuild 75K ago (but valves weren't done at that time).
