Folks,

I just thought I'd share this with you and say "thank you" to Scott P. for hosting this site in the first place. Through the archived posts of Anders and other wonderful SAABNET members, I was able to adjust my '87 SPG's AMM and finally get the funky idle problems to go away (I think).

The AMM was wayyyy out of adjustment. I had to turn the screw in several turns (I think about 10-12 whole turns!) before my analog voltmeter began to budge from 0 volts--meter was plugged into the grey and green/red wires at the LH test socket (next to recirculation flap under the hood).

I tweaked the screw on the AMM until it spends about 3 seconds each on 12 volts and 0 volts, cycling back and forth regularly. I think that's the way to do it.

My courage bolstered with that success, I decided to address my worn-out clutch pedal (hole where pin links pedal to clutch master was elongated). Much better pedal feel/release now.

And, earlier this weekend, I adjusted the base idle speed on the SPG, which was too low (about 500 rpm). Now it idles much better and doesn't dip low as if to stall whem I clutch it and come to a stop. (This is fix on the 900 FAQ page.)

In short, kudos to Scott for running a great site, one that's a treasure to SAAB owners everywhere!
