separating trans from engine: input shaft seems stuck! Posted by bryan [Email] (#542) [Profile/Gallery] (more from bryan) on Mon, 12 Sep 2005 07:19:05 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
i've got my 1990 engine/tranny out of the car, and can't seem to get the input shaft out of the front of the primary. the shaft seems to be stuck in whatever it is embedded into behind the clutch, as I can see it pulling on what might be the release bearing when i look through the clutch fingers as i pry on the bolt/washers i have threaded into the input shaft.
what might be causing this? oxidation? i thought the shaft would pull right out. does the release bearing cause any problems? any solutions?
note i have only used a thick piece of electrical wire as a spacer for the clutch fingers. worked fine in my 88 spg trans work. my understanding is the spacer isn't to allow the shaft removal.
not sure what to do.
