I've had this problem before, the problem was the splines of the shaft fused to the primary due to moisture between the splines.
Do you have access to an air compressor?
My solution was to hook up an air chisel to my compressor and with a dull chisel blade I vibrated the primary gear, and my dad pried on the shaft with long piece of tube steel that I cut a notch in (to slip over the bolt I threaded into the shaft end).
If you don't have a compressor, spray penetrating lube between the shaft and primary and let it soak in, then try prying... remember, leverage is your friend so if you have any long tube or square steel lying around, you'll be better off with that than a pry bar.
If you planing on using the tran's in question... any primary tapping should be done with a certain amount of restraint... when I had this problem I was removing my brothers blown gearbox so I wasn't concerned with any damage I might have done.
I’d recommend cleaning and lubing the splines when putting it back together so that you don’t have this battle again
