Rough Idle/Miss on Start

When I start the car it sounds like its missing on one cyl.
Seems to pick up right away when you rev up or drive it.

Car is a 93 900TC. 85K miles.

I replaced plugs wires cap rotor about a year ago at routine service.
Weekend project is to take a look at it the start problem and do brakes and front rotors.

I'm guessing the obvious thing is an iffy/fouled plug or a bad wire or cracked dist cap.

I was going to pull the plugs after it has rough idled and see if one is wet or funny looking.

I guess more scary things would be a sticky/burnt valve or even a bad head gasket getting the plug damp with coolant . Presumably the plug would look white if that was happening. I don't have a compression tester but I guess that would be the next thing.

I guess it could also be an injector. It's always scary looking at the spray pattern and worrying about a fire!

What else obvious or not so obvious should I be checking? It doesn't feel like the usual rough idle due to oil sludge around the throttle plate. More a definate miss on one cyl.
