EGR Resistor fix

My diamond in the rough 90 SPG is throwing an EGR Temp Sensor fault (CE is on constantly). I have read about faking the ECU out with a 15k 1.2 W resitor but I am wondering if that defeats the EGR system or simply makes it think everything is fine in river city.
I have tested the vacuum valve and it moves freely. So I suspect that the EGR could work if the ECU would get past the temp sensor. Of course it likely wants to know the temp to infer the density. Oh well, maybe it is best to yank the EGR out.
