I think I will do as you say and drive the car around without the mats and carpet. It's getting cold up here in CT so there will be no need for "joy-riding" in a convertible.

I will look into the trailing arm situation and see if it's the same issue in mine. If so, it sounds like it was a design error for the convertible since Steve S also stated he had the same problem. Hmmm, might be something to post to the board to alert all convertible owners. I will wait, though, until I see if it's my problem, too.

I noticed the pass. side was dry, but the driver's side was really bad. Seems like the water is entering from the rear somewhere, and then since my car was parked on a decline (front facing down), the water would run to the front and that's where the lake formed. There were no signs of water entering from the firewall or from the sides.

Do I need to dry out that white felt that's encased in plastic and runs under the shifter linkage? Would it cause damage if I left it damp?
