One of my rear calipers' sliding pins had gotten so rusty the brake couldn't release. (My '88 just got out of storage.) After figuring out the problem (smell/heat, vibration, grinding noise) I put the left rear in the air, lightly cleaned the moving parts with a wire brush, greased the moving parts with a brake-suitable grease, and tested it. After I could easily slide the caliper side to side (after compressing the piston just a little) without resistance, I said it was okay enough, reassembled, and drove 500 miles. It works fine now, the car rolls better, and the vibration is gone. Fortunately, the rotors didn't warp (I've got holy rotors on this car).
After you get the caliper(s) freed up, see how well the wheel spins. If it doesn't spin well (parking brake adjusted properly and released, pads not dragging) then your wheel bearing is probably on its way out.
My '88 is still on its original wheel bearings as I near 200k, so I'm willing to say they're pretty sturdy.
