After spending the afternoon fixing the driver's side seat heater, I took the above mentioned 83T for a spin to test the seat. Seat was... warm. Nothing as dramatic as that in my 99 9-3, but still nice.
Now for the problem - this car is terrifying in snow! We have 1/2" of packed ice, snow and slush currently on our road in scattered stretches. Whenever the car hits one of these snowy bits, the steering wheel pulls to the left fairly hard and the car attempts to pull to the right, particularly when coasting. When accelerating, not quite as bad, but still there. The overall sensation is that of the the front passenger's side tire suddenly doing something entirely different on a snowy/icy surface than on dry - where it feels completely normal. The car has 4 identical Goodyear Eagle GPS (GPH?) all-seasons on it - a similar set of which did an admirable job 2 winters ago on an 87 900S, which was rock solid in the snow. Car specs: New tie rod ends l/r, 4 new ball joints, ALL new (8!) a-arm bushings, new motor mounts. The car, like 90% of the Saab 900's I've seen wears the outside edge of the RF tire quickly. Could this be a serious alignment issue? The RF brake dragging? (doesnt feel like it) An inner tie rod end issue? Whatever it is, it's scary and makes me glad it's not my daily driver!
