The easiest way to get to the heater grid is to unbolt the 4 torx bolts holding the seat to the floor, unplug everything and bring the seat inside. On the front lower part of the seat there are 2 rings holding the leather on, undo those two and lift the leather (or cloth) part up. There is a yellow and black wire with splices onto the heating grid. Scrape back the plastic and check the ohms. If > ~2 then you have a break on the lower part of the seat. On the back part you can undo the 2 prong connector and test for continuity there. Narrow down and solder all the brakes until you have complete continuity.

After I did all of this I checked for voltage at the black multipin connector on the floor under the seat. I had voltage there but my seats weren't warming up still. I tried a different switch ($8) I purchased on ebay and that did the trick. Now I just have to get the passenger side working...
