Sorry about the bummin' post... she's supposed to be the greatest winter car.
Yeah, they're hex sliders. Originally I wanted to just replace those. I doubt it's the flex line because the piston retracted pretty easily (in warmer temperatures) to fit new pads in around November 15th, and the brake fluid has been very clean since I replaced the master cylinder in summer '04 with regular bleeding since then.
Not the e-brake because it still drags on a test drive with the cable (one side only) disconnected. I've replaced the rear calipers and cables (left side spring '03, right side spring '04) recently- don't the rebuilt calipers last a little longer than this? I kinda hope so.
I cleaned and lubed the pins twice, once just out of storage (caliper had hung again, wire brush and lube) and once last month (new pads automatically get cleaned and gooped) but if this is going to be monthly I'd rather throw a caliper at it. Good thing it's colder than a witch's and I've got the holy rotors; the pads might not be too far gone.
And if anyone needs to know the procedure "How To Install New Rear Brake Pads When You Can't Get The Infernal Odd-Sized Pins Off Of One Side" just ask.
I'll swap the above for "How To Bleed After Replacing A Caliper With No Friends Nearby."
