I pretty sure that the front mounted cooler with the thermostat on the cross member was the later set up. My Saab 2:4 manual says that is the set up for USA, CA and JA cars with B202 engine "as from 1985 models". Yea, T-37s with 200+, cool! Like I said, Basically a good, solid 3 speed unit. They don't scare me. I think that you are right, it depends largely on how you drive and maintain. Cheers.
