hi everyone...

after a absence of a few years (i moved onto a Mercedes SLK32, a 71 El Camino and a Lexus IS300 SportCross), i return to the world of FWD and Saab Ownership. i've reaquired as my fourth car, a 5-spd, Monte Carlo Yellow 91 900 Convertible SE. i gave it to my brother in mint condition 8 yrs ago and it returns to me in need of a head gasket, new top and a driver's seat, minimum.

so a coupl eof questions:

1.
it seems all the rage now is to swap a 2.0 head with a 2.1 due to the 2.1's better flow. does anyone have any first hand knowledge/experience with this? i intitially was thinking about getting a high performance head from SAS, Abbott or one of those outfits but Walter Wong recommended swapping the 2.1 head, manifold and fuel rail (actually he recommended it leaving it the way it was designed by the engineers at Saab but it's never good enough to leave well enough alone, is it?) is the difference noticable? any problems, etc?

or should i just leave well enough alone? The Elco makes 470 hp, the AMG 349 and even the Lexus clocks in at 215 so at 170 (it's red box-ed) the Saab will be the runt of the litter...

2.
i'm thinking about putting 16" 3 spoke Aeros with 205/50/16's on. i know they'll fit but are they flush with the body or do they stick out? not into the low rider look...

already having flashbacks to working on water pumps that face the firewall and sitting in the car an extra 30 secs to let the turbo idle...

thanks in advance,
meng

ps if anyone's looking for an autoshipper, i was able to ship my car from Chicago to LA for $448 (terminal to terminal) via DAS. it takes two weeks, though...
